A meeting of the Ortenau district's plant fire brigade working group was held at Willstätt Industrial Park in mid-October.

Guests included the commanders of the plant fire brigades of Duravit (Hornberg), Europa-Park (Rust), Köhler and Linck (Oberkirch), Schaeffler (Lahr) and Tesa (Offenburg).

After welcoming speeches from District Fire Chief Bernhard Frei, the Chairman of the Fire Brigade Association Michael Dietrich and the Commander of the Willstätt Municipal Fire Brigade Christian Hetzel, the participants were given detailed information about the site.

Alexander Reichert, Managing Director of B.I.W. GmbH (Betreibergesellschaft Industriepark Willstätt), gave a presentation on the development of the industrial park. He explained the concept of emergency response under the umbrella of B.I.W. GmbH. This company provides the vehicles, including the management team, and organises the operation of the plant fire brigade for companies with special hazards on site.

‘The plant fire brigade,’ emphasises Reichert, ‘is a central component of our long-standing safety culture at the site.’

The rest of the morning was characterised by an intensive exchange of experiences and networking between the plant fire brigades.

In the afternoon, the commanders were given an insight into the production of lithium-ion cells at Leclanché GmbH, which is based at the Willstätt Industrial Park.

Martin Kiefer, commander of the Industriepark Willstätt fire brigade, was very satisfied with how the conference went:

"It was an extremely successful exchange of experiences. The participants were impressed by the diversity of the companies and how we unite them all under one roof."

The plant fire brigade at Industriepark Willstätt ensures safety 365 days a year and is a central component of hazard prevention - with the aim of protecting people, the environment and property.
